Moving Java Applications to Card

General procedure for launching Java applications from card via PowerRUN:

  1. Install a Java application or any other program in Java so that it works in internal memory.

  2. Change type of "IBM Java VM.prc", "J9 Java Launcher.prc" and "J9 Exchanger.prc" to any other than appl (e.g. app1).

  3. Change creator of application to a value that is unique.

  4. Set creator of "J9 Java Launcher.prc" to the value of application.

  5. Move the application to card via PowerRUN.

  6. Move the rest of files for Java support to the folder on expansion card created by PowerRUN.

  7. Copy the Java application to internal memory and change its type to "JMid".

  8. Move Java application with type "JMid" back to the PowerRUN folder.

  9. Copy "Java.Launcher.0.2.3.prc" or "Java.Launcher.0.2.6.prc" to the same folder on card and change its creator to the value of the application.

Now the Java application can be launched from card via the shortcut created in step 5.

System requirements:

Palm OS 5.x

Remarks:

  1. File "Java.Launcher.0.2.x.prc" is also in the package for launching Oskarek from card v0.3.x.

  2. Copying to card can be done via FileZ. Only "J9 Midp Options: .prc" must be moved through Resco Explorer.

  3. Java.Launcher deletes files beginning with "J9MS".

  4. Version 0.2.x of Java.Launcher does not delete latest file beginning with "J9MS".

  5. Version 0.2.6 of Java.Launcher performs locking of some files, DB cache flushing (higher stability) and deletes all files beginning with "J9MS".
